Zeeman effect
Zeeman effect In physics, effect produced by a strong magnetic field on the light emitted by a radiant body; it is observed as a splitting of its spectral lines. It was first observed (1896) by Pieter Zeeman. The effect has been useful in investigating the charge/mass ratio and magnetic moment of an electron.
